Amarok 2.3 Beta 1 su Debian Sidux

Dopo la richiesta di Picchio su Cosa vorresti su SiduxBox eccomi qua con una guida per installare Amarok 2.3 Beta

Le novità introdotte in questa versione del più grande riproduttore per KDE sono numerose. Ecco le principali:

• Added a configuration dialog for Local Podcasts. Update interval and base download directory can now be configured. (BR 221398)
• Make it possible to go to next/previous track with horizontal mouse wheel button on TrayIcon. (BR 225783)
• New main toolbar with completely redesigned look and new features. Contributed by Thomas Luebking <thomas.luebking@web.de>.
• Podcasts and Saved Playlists can now be grouped by provider like iPod, Local, USB Mass Storage, etc. This can be toggled using a button in the relevant Category.
• The playlist context menu now has a “Show in Media Sources” action for many types of track.
• The collection scanner now also looks for cover images named “folder.*”. Apparently some applications use this convention. (BR 224692)
• It’s now possible to automatically use a USB Mass Storage device as a collection when it’s connected.
• The progress bar tooltip now shows the position in the track that the cursor is hovering, making it simple to jump to a specific position.
• D-Bus: Added StopAfterCurrent method for /Player.
• You can now elect to rescan specific folders. Right-click on a folder in the collection setup dialog to rescan just that folder. This will only work for folders that have previously been added to the collection, i.e. you cannot check a folder and immediately rescan it. This will never be recursive (as that defeats the point of scanning a specific folder!)
• Non collection files with a cue sheet will now load their tracks as individual tracks in the playlist instead of as one big track with bookmark markers.
• Dynamic Collection is back. (BR 171213)
• Searching covers from Last.fm using custom query in interactive mode.

Mica male vero? 😉 Mi sa che la concorrenza (Banshee e altri recenti riproduttori musicali per niente male) stanno smuovendo il team di Amarok a darsi da fare!

E tu vorresti aspettare fino alla realase stabile per avere questo gioiellino?? No, non credo proprio!

Vediamo insieme come fare.

Il software è già disponibile nei repo Experimental di Debian. In genere sarebbe meglio non utilizzare quei repo in quanto contiene software altamente instabile e come si dice in gergo:

Ti imputtana tutto!

In questo caso però ho testato tutto prima su VirtualBox e non ci sono minimamente problemi.

L'immagine messa qui così non c'entra nulla. Però è figa!

Apri la Konsole o il terminale e digita:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list

e togli il # davanti alla riga

deb http://ftp.it.debian.org/debian/ experimental main contrib non-free

Salva e chiudi con i tasti CTRL+O e CTRL+X

Ora aggiorna la cache di apt con

sudo apt-get update

e installa Amarok 2.3 Beta specificando che lo vuoi proprio dai repository experimental.

 sudo apt-get install -t experimental amarok

infatti (e per fortuna, aggiungo) APT non installa mai dai repo experimental senza che gli si impartisca il comando

-t experimenatal

che sta che trunk experimental. Infatti tu hai attivato prima di tutto i repo unstable e contemporaneamente anche gli experimental. Quindi APT utilizza di default il primo attivato. Se vuoi usarne un altro glielo devi dire.

Ricordo che se usate gnome o xfce devi installare anche un altro pacchetto senza il quale non sentirai il suono:

sudo apt-get install phonon-backend-xine

Ora intanto che installi gustati il video con tutte le novità 😉
